Remember Vietnam? I sort of do... I remember black and white TV images of the war... mostly choppers and foot soldiers scurrying around. I remember a lot of people at home screaming about the war... saying we couldn't win and all that.

As I got older... after we had withdrawn from Vietnam, and the mood in the country was pretty bad at best... I remember hearing a particularly ironic phrase that was supposed to sum up our war effort in Vietnam;

"Sir, in order to save the village, we had to destroy it."

Heh. Gallows humor... no doubt referring to the infamous "zippo raids" where we would torch entire villages in desperate attempts to deny the Vietcong a place to gather and hide. It was no doubt put forth by the liberals of the day who, during that time, did manage to use protest and civil unrest to sow the seeds of doubt in a war-weary populace. It suppose it was cool back then... I think "Chic" was the term used most often... to bad mouth out military... our country... anything dealing with the established order. So the phrase, "...In order to save the village, we had to destroy it," became a nice way to portray our action in Vietnam - bumbling, mindless, and ultimately harmful.

What most people back then didn't know... couldn't know... what with the endless barrage of negative images put forth by the major media outlets of the day towards both the war and the Administration waging it (sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it,) was that our end-all be-all defeat... the TET Offensive... while presented as a crushing defeat for our side, was in fact a game-changing loss for the Vietcong. They put everything into a last-ditch effort to defeat us militarily and failed. They were stopped... turned back.

In the end, the military loss for them turned into a propaganda loss for us - perpetrated on our country by a liberal media hell-bent on ending the war - even if it meant doing it's best to see that we lost it.

So now... at the ripe old age of 42, I can think of a new phrase for the surviving members of the "Hell No We Won't Go" crew... like Willam Ayres and such...

"In order to stop the war in Vietnam, we did our best to lose it."

I'm not sure spitting on our soldiers and treating them like pariahs afterwards was really necessary though... but since when have liberals been very good at practicing all the platitudes they most preach? (For instance... how's that Repulican Culture of Corruption slogan working out for you guys these days...? I sense an ethics Karma Boomarang fixin' to swoop in on the Dem's pretty soon... but not if NBC, CBS, CNN, and ABC have anything to say about it, lol!))

Now here I sit... in 2009... with a shiny and new liberal Democratic Administration... watching my country weather an economic perfect storm of external and internal forces which seem hell-bent on turning our markets and currency into a bad joke. I hear how bad things are now... but how terrible things will be if a new way of thinking is not adhered to... yet all the while each new and seemingly illogical step to "save" us seems to make the situation incrementally worse.

"The Market is tanking... so let's do some more things to make it worse..." that seems to be the rule these days. It's been said many times that "Pride Goeth Before The Fall," ( a loose adaptation of Proverbs 16:18) and I can't think of a better example than now... each time I see a fresh, new, Democratic face on the 'tube telling us how they "know" what needs to be done next, I smile and shake my head. As a rule, I never trust people that demonstrate over time that they "know it all." A person in power without a small dose of reflection and, dare I say it , self-doubt, is reckless... dangerous... and often times a self-righteous ass. But that's just me... your mileage may vary.

But despite it all, I have to laugh and find the irony in this whole mess. An the catch-phrase that has been giving me a chuckle all afternoon...

Jee, John, back in the day... while you were at Senate hearings concerning Vietnam bad-mouthing your fellow vets, calling them baby-killers, etc, wasn't that other John displaying the courage, character, and, yes, the ability to make the hard, self-sacrificing decisions you seemed so incapable of making? Was the peer pressure really that bad after the war... that you would dishonor yourself and those you served with in some lame stunt in front of Congress in order to gain cred with the "Stop The War Crowd?"

No, the John McCain you are now trying to impune was locked in the Hanoi Hilton simply showing courage, grace, and self-sacrifice you so obviously lack. I guess that was some of that poor judgement you are blabbering on about. But wait, there's more Kerry hypocracy! But let's not just stick to the past in showing just how off-base and out-of-touch you are, Mr. Kerry. McCain's stance on the Bush tax cuts were correct. Marxists like you, Mr. Kerry, and the Little Prince Obama are wrong. Let's put American's money back where it belongs - out of your sphere of influence and back in their pockets. McCain's stance on the Surge in Iraq has been proven to be the correct course of action. Hell, he was calling for the Surge before it was even called "the Surge." So, again, Senator Kerry, unlike you, Senator McCain took a principled stand, an unpopular stand, a stand that wasn't made to promote some political agenda, and was right. It's good to have a John McCain running around... it serves to illustrate just what a little turd you are in direct comparison.

John Kerry, you failed to be relevant after George W. kicked your ass in the 2004 election... if you ever were relevant at all. The quicker you figure this out and get your gold-digging ass back under the rock Mama Heinz provides, the better off we'll all be.

Charles Krauthammer Is The Man

If you read his articles, you cannot help but marvel at his laser-clear reasoning, his dry humor, and lastly his wonderful use of language to get his point across with style and panache.

The first two links I have in my link list are related to him, and I cannot recommend a more worthy political column to read. His biography is a study in will and perseverance that is an inspiration to those who have taken the time to research it. This week's Bullshit winner is no stranger to hearing that cry concerning her lack of leadership... its none other than Nancy Pelosi!

She then partially credited the success of the troop surge to “the goodwill of the Iranians,” claiming that they were responsible for ending violence in the southern city of Basra."

What a steaming load of bullshit.

The Thinkprogress crew hates Bush so much they must "throw" the war in Iraq in order to deny Bush a victory there.

I've said it before so much its becoming a broken record:
A good day for the U.S. in Iraq is a crushing blow to the far Left of the Democratic party. They will stop at nothing to see us lose in order to achieve political gain.

Obama couldn't recognize the success of the Surge in his speech tonight since his rival, John McCain, was a chief proponent of the strategy. No, he again rewrites the Left's "true" problem with the war (let's see, we've had "Blood for Oil, Nation Building, Neocon Empire Building, Bush Lies, etc.") The reason we should surrender in the midst of victory given today (sometimes it changes hourly) is... it is now "a war that should never have been waged," "a war we cannot afford," and "the Iraqis must now show the courage to determine the fate of their country." (I'm paraphrasing.) He also managed to sneak in a reference to "100 years in Iraq" a low-blow concerning a McCain mis-quote he's been called on before. Unfortunately, Obama thrives on our short memory.

Here's the problem I have with the Democratic Party tonight.

First, pick a whine and stick to it. You liberal appeasers make me sick coming up with new and improved ways to weasel out of sticking with Iraq until the job is done. We all know you as a group are cowardly, have no honor, and would run out on a buddy in a bar fight faster than you could shout "metrosexual." But must you be so damned annoying in the process? Just go cower in a corner somewhere out of sight and soil yourself in silence, if you don't mind.

Next, stop ignoring the remarkable bravery, dedication, and determination shown by our armed forces, led by General Petraeus, in Iraq (and in Afghanistan.) Even though it will illustrate your short-sightedness and inability to make the tough choices needed to keep America safe, let's give these brave men and women their due. But to attribute their hard work and sacrifice to the Iranians is an insult they really don't deserve, Mrs Pelosi. You are a real piece of work.

And finally, let's get something straight. All this "McCain is Bush's third term" bullshit is just that; bullshit. You better take a look around the stage and notice that George W. isn't there. He's not running for office - John McCain is. You might not be able to refute the correctness of McCain's views, but you need to stop hiding behind the skirts of the Code Pink Bush-Bashers and take on the actual contender. Stop preaching to the liberal choir and have some subtance for a change. (That would be some welcome Change, BTW) If misquoting McCain is the extent of your ability to take on the man's record (McCain doesn't have to hide his), then you are in waaaaay over your head. All the socialist and marxist handlers in the world won't be able to save you from someone who has been tested by fire and responded with honor, courage, and dignity. That's the difference between John McCain and the junior senator from Illinois; McCain actually sees America as a source for good instead of blaming it for every injustice throughout the world.

Who could forget the classic “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm proud of my country...”

When you are on film using the word "Whitey" in the presence of Louis Farrakhan (correction: Farrakhan's wife) at Trinity United Church of Christ, it can't be good for your husband's chances in November.

Personally, I think this is Hillary's Nuclear Option and her only way now to steal back the nomination that Obama stole from her by using the Rules Committee to insure Michigan's primary wouldn't be counted. If the Republicans were the ones releasing this, they would undoubtedly uncork it in October (that's why they call it an October surprise, knuckleheads!) So I'm pretty sure this isn't coming from the RNC... just some good ol' Hill & Bill politics of personal destruction '08!

BTW, Obama has used hardball before back in Illinois... just ask Alice Palmer.

I'm writing today to inform you of a unique opportunity you have towards winning my vote for the next election cycle.

Let me explain.

Over the course of the past year, I've seen Congress falter under what can loosely be called "Democratic Leadership." Unfortunately, the staggering ineptitude demonstrated by Pelosi and Reid only eclipses that of the previous Republican leadership by a narrow margin. Out-of-control spending, failure to demonstrate resolve during war, and an inexplicable fascination with trivia and special interests have left me wondering if those "representing" me in Washington indeed give a damn about this country.

Now is the time to put all that behind us and focus on the single most important challenge facing this country for the next several decades: Energy Independence / Energy Diversity. Without it our military will be impotent, our economy will be in shambles, and the plight of the working man and woman will disintegrate into something akin to early 19th century prairie living. Nothing else, including the threat from radical Islam, comes close. The answer is staring us in our collective faces in the simple phrase passed down through generations of Americans... wisdom we seem so eager to forget.

"Don't put all your eggs in one basket."

So here is where I'd like to bring to light your unique opportunity.

As a sitting Representative/Senator, you have the unique ability to demonstrate your awareness of our impending energy catastrophe, the seriousness of our current situation, and your dedication to it's effective solution... RIGHT NOW... by spearheading a movement to get the U.S. on the road to Energy Independence. No stone should be left unturned as we reinvest our country in Nuclear Power, Coal-to-Oil, Natural Gas, and Wind and Solar Energy. Too long have those invested in socializing this country been given free reign to use the environment to control energy policy. Every day they are being exposed more and more for what they truly are - persons invested in a last-ditch attempt to use our environment to impose unprecedented governmental control on the citizens of this country. If these "societal engineers" cannot control the distribution of wealth through entitlement programs and taxation, they have decided to use the clever tactic of controlling the very means we as citizens have to earn a living, feed our families, and control our very destiny.

The first thing you can do to speak to this crisis with action and not words is to strike down the Warner-Lieberman Climate Change Bill. What good is a Drakonian law concerning emissions if it grinds our economy to a complete halt in the mean time? The second thing you can do is support the formation of an all-out push to find effective alternatives to our obviously failing energy strategy... an Apollo Program for Alternative Energy Development... a Manhattan Project of Energy Independence... free of distraction with antiquated environmental ideology.

I will be watching your votes in this regard and hope that this letter serves as a wake-up call you and your fellow politicians in Washington. My number one criteria from this point as a citizen and as a voter in you district will be along these lines and I will vote for those who seem ready to take on this, the most monumental challenge in my lifetime: an effective energy policy.

The political blogs are abuzz today with the comments made by President Bush at a ceremony in Israel.

"Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along," the President said to the country's legislative body, "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is –- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

Now Obama and his shills in the Democratic party are on every media outlet yelling "foul" and crying big alligator tears over the "unfairness" of Bush's comments.

Don't you get it, Mr. President? Punching bags aren't supposed to punch back! In this day of attacking any and all things Bush... where not an hour goes by where a CNN or MSNBC pundit fails to BushBash, how dare the President make such a comment... such a terribly false assertion concerning the Left's Chosen One, the junior Senator from Illinois? (BTW, Mr. Obama is never mentioned in Bush's quote. Not once.)

Now we even have Joe Biden (D-Del) pontificating on the subject... as if he were anything more than an also-ran in three Democratic primaries.

“This is bullshit, this is malarkey. This is outrageous, for the president of the United States to go to a foreign country, to sit in the Knesset ... and make this kind of ridiculous statement.”

So here is the heart of Biden's quote;

" This is outrageous... to go to a foreign country... and make this kind of ridiculous statement."

Jeez, Joe, where was the outrage when we had Dennis Kucinich, Nancy Pelosi, and Jimmy Carter gallivanting all over the Middle East wreaking havoc every time they opened their pie-holes? And then there's Harry Reid's big fat mouth... if only he were in some other country.... possibly forever. Now there's something to hope for!

But I digress.

While the terms "Bullshit" and "Joe Biden" have often been used in the same breath... and at many times have even been synonymous, I think Biden "doth protest too much." Why don't we listen to the actual words of the oft-offended one, the junior senator from Illinois... the very one who spoke up so eloquently - and thus opened the entire can of worms he is now trying to avoid? After all, Obama made the "I would" comment - so fast it was out almost before the moderator finishes the question.

Personally, I think it's pretty sad when Hillary Clinton and John Edwards (!) have bigger balls concerning the issue of dealing with dictators and terrorists. One can only wonder in awe as to what demographic Obama thought he was pandering when he talked himself into his current corner. While it remains to be seen if the junior Senator from Illinois can also talk his way into the Presidency of the United States, he desperately needs to learn there are some situations you just can't talk your way out of.

I doubt the likes of Ahmadinejad, Assad, and Kim Jong-il will be as swept away by Mr. Obama's charm the same way UC Berkeley coeds no doubt are.

Incredible... just when I think I have reached the absolute limit of Democratic hypocrisy, I read a statement like the one above uttered by Biden.

I'm unfortunately reminded of Dennis Kucinich's interview (watch it and weep) on Syrian TV saying " I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation..." Yet I fail to remember Biden's shock, outrage, vitriol and disgust over Kucinich's absurd, inappropriate and plain anti-American comment (considering the forum in which it was made.)

Let's take one last look (thankfully) at the gist of Biden's argument.

" This is outrageous... to go to a foreign country... and make this kind of ridiculous statement."

Did Biden say this against Kucinich's lame-assed Syrian pandering? Nope. Did he utter it in even hushed tones with regard to Jimmy Carter's thinly-veiled anti-Semitic Hamas love-fest a few weeks ago? Not a syllable. C'mon... This is beginning to get embarrassing, Joe!

"Bullshit," you cry? Why yes, Joe, You're absolutely full of it. Let's not be so selective with our outrage in the future, Senator Biden... your hypocrisy is physically painful to watch.

And here is one last bit of advice. If the junior senator from Illinois doesn't like having his hand being called over making ignorant, ill-advised, and naive statements concerning U.S. foreign policy, then he needs to stop showing his ignorance on the subject by making them in the first place.

Wow... I guess all that unbiased "truth" brought forth by Joe Wilson disputing administration claims that Nigerian yellow cake uranium had been sought by Iraqi operatives (the Brits still think this intelligence was correct) was simply a case of non-partisan activism by the "dynamic duo." What everyone seems to forget these days is that ol' Saddam was putting out so much disinformation that NOBODY - including his own generals - knew what the Hell he had in his arsenal... or what he was capable of.

These days, I have to sit back and wonder how much Joe and Val may have have been rewarded for services to the Democratic Party... apparently Hillary in particular. Perhaps all the notoriety is enough (especially with the book deals and all.) Face time on the tube and in the press can't hurt those sales!

Here is Joe's tell-all expose in the New York Times (or tell-nothing expose as later determined by congressional investigation.) The old gray lady didn't seem too interested in any findings which called into question Wilson's assertions - or his ultimate motives for making them. Shoot, he's bashin' Bush... give him another page, guys! Hey, come to think of it, wasn't it the Times that put forth that now discredited hit-job/smear-job about a John McCain "affair" the instant he became the presumptive Republican nominee... after sitting on the story for months...?
